Hey Friends...
I'm moving this blog over to wordpress... http://www.worthmagazine.wordpress.com/ because you are unable to post comments on the specially dedicated pages linked to the main magazine columns by the same titles and that is an important part of the interactive plan for the magazine. Wordpress does allow the interactive communication and so OVER we go! Meet me there...

Worth all the while...
This blog is the interactive section of (for what it's) Worth Magazine @ worthworks.com. The online magazine is dedicated to promoting well-being and the blog is dedicated to revealing how well the magazine's publisher manages to live up to the publication's manifesto. The words "three-assed monkey" come to mind.

recovering
Hey All...
After a few good nights' sleep I am beginning to feel refreshed. Getting the magazine up and running ran into all-nighters for the last few nights before the launch and my body doesn't appreciate that in my 40's as well as it did in my 20's.
I am still searching for the proper cord for the camera I used to take the picture of the "Antique Of The Week" that was supposed to be posted today. It was not posted because I can't download the darn photos. I hoped to be off to a flying start, not a flying fart. Yeah, g'head and laugh.
So far February is rocking along just fine. I could not keep away from the fabric stores when I was down on Ottawa checking out the antiques. I didn't go wild but I did buy enough fabric to get a few things sewn. Again...camera issues or I'd be filling this post with pretty pictures. Fabricland was the best for prices. They have a massive sale on right now. Besides fabric I picked up a cushion cover for $2! Woo hoo! I grabbed a couple of brass look d-rings for $1.80 to put onto the cushion cover so I can attach ribbon as a strap to make a purse out of it. The 'purse' is a neutral tan colour so for a colour punch I think I'll use a length of red fabric ribbon one of my Christmas gifts came wrapped in. Yes, pictures will be taken and posted.
The great big Snow Show was pretty cool because it inspired the city to plow the sidewalks for a change. Very nice. I went out for a bit this evening and didn't have much trouble getting around on foot. I was impressed. And...well...truly surprised. Hamilton done did soemthing right. Amazing.
My little meatloafies have probably cooled enough to be wrapped and put in the fridge. I have small individual loaf pans that are great for portion size meatloaf and other things...never have got to the other things yet. Meatloaf is my comfort food. I make at least a dozen different kinds. So easy to change it up.
Tonight I just tossed in a bit of a soup mix from Lipton's...what was it? Onion and garlic...some such thing. I used regular bread crumbs this time but I like to use flavoured crackers sometimes. When I do that I just fill a plastic baggie with crackers of whatever flavour I think will be nice in the meatloaf - there are so many flavours - then I crush them to crumbs inside the baggie and empty into the mixing bowl with the meat. But today was a regular crumb day. I did toss a few splashes of balsamic vinegar into the mix for the heck of it. It made a very nice flavour. I liked the effect. Smoosh the lean ground meat, crumbs, seasonings, and an egg together and then smish it into the individual pans and cook at 350 degrees for an hour. Oh...and put ketchup on top before you toss them in the oven. You can put brown sugar too, or honey, or parmesan cheese or whatever.
Meatloaf is a very tasty, comforting food that is a no brainer to cook. Now...um...treadmill. Must get to stretching and walking.

cat house news
I'm just sitting here waiting for Pretty Girl to come home from the vet's and to receive a new member to the cat house. The Humane Society organizer didn't tell me anything about the new cat, just that I'd be getting one. Pretty Girl has been at the vet's since Friday morning. She had an upper respiratory thing going on and apparently she needed extensive dental work. Oooh. Ouch. Yeah. I think so too. I'm positive she's going to be coming home Bitchy Girl. She was really, really mad at me for just putting her in the cage as it was. Then they went and did all that crap. Oooh.
Anyway, I'm not really batting a thousand here with adoptable cats. They're all lovely, but only three of them will let anybody touch them. A fourth one hangs around all the time, a gorgeous calico, but she won't let me touch her with a ten foot pole, nope. I have three other hiders. I'll have to grab some new photos of everybody soon. Oh...and the three kittens aren't going to come back to me. They're going to a new foster home in Mississauga. Gonna really miss them. They were SUCH fun! Oh well. I'll keep everyone posted of the kitty hijinks around the cat house.

getting there
I'm getting there. It's the 24th and the magazine launch is this coming Sunday when - hopefully - people are hanging around home a bit and check out their computers. I'm glad I laid back a bit on the launch date and got to enjoy the anticipation. LOL For most of my life anticipation has been a form of torture. I must be over 40 now! Wait a minute. Let me check...yup...comfortable shoes. Over 40.
I strongly urge you to check out the magazine when it launches and to send the link to friends because there will be a cool giveaway to the first five people to sign up for a free online subscription. And the next ten people after that will also receive a small giftie! EVERYONE who signs up for a free subscription to the magazine from the launch date until March 1st will be entered into a raffle for a big prize. What the prizes and giveaways are will be announced on the website on January 30th. I'm having a blast setting it all up!
Kirsten Hill Creative Arts is the official magazine sponsor and will be holding a Super Sale Saturday each week to be announced on the Worth Magazine website. Her site will also provide regular giveaways to (for what it's) Worth so you all better keep coming back.
I'm back to work on the website now. You'll thank me.
